At American Community, we’re proud of our community involvement. We strive to create a positive impact by investing and volunteering in the communities we serve. We place an emphasis on supporting organizations that help people with special needs, build community spirit and improve the quality of life. Our support extends to organizations promoting awareness of, sensitivity to, and cooperation with cultural difference. Below is a sampling of our community involvement:
American Community Employees Donate Money for Local Food Bank American Community employees worked together to raise $2,374 to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. The charity was chosen by employees to receive the money raised for the 2010 Charity Fund. Employees submitted nominations for their preferred charities, then voted on the top organization to receive the funds.
American Community Employees Donate Money for Haiti Relief Efforts American Community employees showed their kindness to those in need by participating in Roses for Recovery, an internal fundraising campaign to help support earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. A donation of nearly $500 was made to the southeastern Michigan chapter of the American Red Cross to assist with humanitarian initiatives.
Employees who contributed to the Roses for Recovery campaign received a yellow paper rose, which has a sentimental meaning: promise of a new beginning.
American Community Employees Support Two Michigan-based Charities American Community Mutual Insurance Company employees worked together throughout 2009 to raise nearly $6,000 to benefit two Michigan-based non-profit organizations. Employees nominated their favorite charity to receive the monies raised for the 2009 Charity Fund. Once the nominations were compiled, employees voted for their top charities. The following organizations each received $2,989: Angela Hospice and Michigan Humane Society.
Employees Contribute to American Community’s Second Annual Holiday Drive American Community employees showed their generosity in giving to those less fortunate by participating in the second annual Holiday Drive.
Throughout the month of November, employees donated non-perishable food centered around holiday meals, such as: canned vegetables and hams, rice, boxed dressing, gravy and cranberry sauce. All donations were split between Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries and Westland-based Spectrum Human Services.
Livonia Goodfellows Receives Toy Donation from American Community Employees Christmas will be a little brighter for numerous children in Livonia. On November 18, the Livonia Goodfellows received AC’s donation of more than 100 toys collected from our “Christmas in July” holiday drive.
Throughout the holiday season, the Goodfellows work tirelessly to ensure that local children receive gifts and stand behind their motto, “No child without a Christmas.” Although the organization has changed during the years, their goal remains the same—to provide a bit of holiday cheer to Livonia’s needy citizens in the area of food, toys and clothing.
American Community Employees Provide New Clothing to Local Children this Holiday Season Adopt-a-Child-Size and Support Services, Inc. once again received American Community’s donation of new complete winter outfits for local children in Out-Wayne and Eastern Washtenaw Counties to help ensure that each child stays warm throughout the winter months.
During the annual event, employees provided 26 children with complete winter outfits, educational games and books to help generate a positive learning experience throughout the year. |
